Settling into Spring Semester Back at SUU
I rented an apartment in Cedar City so I could resume my studies at SUU this Spring. It's a nice place with a shared kitchen and bathroom. It's wheelchair accessible, and I have my own bedroom. My dormmates are all young. Most keep to themselves for the most part.
The little place suits me well, and I fancy I shall enjoy it the time that I'm in it. The building is new and everything is fixed up nicely. It's about five minutes from the college when I go with my front-end motor attachment, so it's very convenient as well.
As I am in the habit of setting a goal for the year at the beginning of each year, I did the same this year. My goal is to end the year as healthy as I possibly can physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I will do this by taking care of my body; exercising regularly, eating healthfully, and keeping up with my medications; by staying connected with loved ones; inviting people over, visiting family, and making phone calls to those too far away; and by learning more about God; reading through the Spanish Bible, praying, and listening to daily devotionals in Spanish. I'll know I have reached my goal if I end the year at least 30 pounds lighter, happy, and closer to God.
To help myself reach my goals, I'm keeping a wellness journal and using a planner to keep up with all the things I need to accomplish each day. I'm able to write down what I eat each day to keep myself in a calorie deficit and track habits I'm trying to form. I'm also able to write down tasks I need to do each day so I don't miss any homework or anything of the sort. I've really enjoyed this system so far, and I'm expecting it to help me be more efficient and effective.
I'm really enjoying my classes so far. I'm taking Methods of Teaching Writing, Introduction to Spanish Literature, British Literature III, and World Cinema. I think I'm going to have a great semester. Thanks to my much-improved health, it hasn't been an issue at all that my classes start at 8:30 in the morning. I'm able to sleep well and wake up feeling ready for the day. There is no greater wealth than health.
Speaking of wealth, I started job training for an online tutoring role. I'll be helping children learning to read. I finished all the on-boarding and training this week, so hopefully, I get some assignments soon so I can stay afloat. God takes good care of me, so I know it's going to work out. I'm excited for this job. I'll be tutoring three days a week, and it's all online. As long as I'm in the US, I can work from wherever, so when I need to go to another area this fall, it won't be an issue.
So, now that I've let that cat out of the bag, yes, I'll be doing another exchange this fall. My health doesn't allow me to be in Southern Utah in the fall, so keep an eye out to see where I end up for the fall semester. I've already decided on the university, and as soon as I have the necessary funds to put in the exchange application, I'll be doing so.
You won't want to miss my adventures this year, and I'm excited to bring you all along!
